Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location: Lancing
Hourly rate: £11.50 per hour

Hours/shifts: 2 hours in the morning Saturdays and Sunday. Around 10am start but happy to discuss this if a later start time is wanted

Some extra hours are available on a Wednesday evening from between 5pm-10pm (Social hours only)

Summary 

My brother is a very happy person and up for a laugh. He is very friendly and easy-going but has just had a long stay in hospital so is in need of some extra support. He had a stroke when he was 37yrs old so his left side is paralyzed, due to this he needs some assistance with showering and dressing. His Personal Assistance should be able support him so he can get his confidence and mobility back after his hospital stay and have a great sense of humour (just like him).

Other Requirements 
• "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9."
• Ideally have a UK driving licence and be willing to drive my brother’s automatic vehicle

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description
Typical duties

Domestic - 
Preparing meals for me for the weekend
Possibly a little ironing

Personal Care: 
• Supervision and assistance with showering, drying
• Assistance with applying moisturizer
• Assistance with detaching and reattaching FES (this is similar to a TENS machine and provides electrical stimulus to help his muscles move better)
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Prompt to ensure medication is taken
• Assistance with cutting up food

Social: 
• Accompany my brother to meet my husband and I to go for a meal on a Wednesday. You are welcome to join us too

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:

• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Cheerful with a good sense of humour
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
