Hours/shifts: Term time: 6 hours per week, weekends. School holidays: 10 hours per week, days flexible.


We are looking for a fun, calm and creative personal assistant for our lovely boy, who is diagnosed with Autism. He is 12 years old and is a chatter box with a big personality. He is always outside no matter the weather. He loves nature and gardening and is obsessed with lawn mowers!
This role will involve taking him out on walks to the woods and other places of interest (he loves to explore!), sharing his enthusiasm for nature and gardening at home and extending his interests and experiences through conversations and activities. Although he loves being outside, he is not always aware of the risks, so the role will involve being observant and proactive to ensure he is safe.
There may be times when the role will involve accompanying our family on a trip out, offering that nurturing support for our son so he can get he best out of the day whilst allowing us to spend quality time with his sibling too.
This could be a fulfilling role for someone who is also keen about the outdoors and as you get to know him, his wonderful sense of humour will crack you up just as it does us!

Other Requirements
• Must be comfortable with pets as we have cats
• Someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours or willing smoke outside and away from our son.
• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle , mileage will be paid for
• Be required to take Lateral Flow Test before coming to work.

Typical duties

• Accompanying on trips out e.g.the beach or woods, going for walks
• Accompanying on trips out with the family.
• Joining in with everyday experiences and new experiences: e.g. mowing the lawn, looking for road signs, exploring and looking closely at nature.
• Providing him with new experiences.
• Being observant when he is using the lawn mower, prompting, or reminding him of any hazards.
• Being observant and proactive when out and about, prompting, or reminding him of any hazards.
• The above duties may involve using your car.

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Ideally have experience of Autism, working with children or is willing to learn and adapt.

• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience (including life experience) is preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
