I have Crohn’s Disease and a heart defect. I have had several operations which have left me weak and my mobility can be poor. I enjoy getting out of my flat and accessing local activities. The role will involve assisting me with every day chores such as the odd bit of food shopping, posting letters, buying gifts etc. I would also like to increase my strength so want to go on walks and take gentle exercise. I would like to access local activities such as the cinema. I enjoy going to cafes or tea shops. Requirements All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - Light housework on occasions Personal Care: None (personal care may be required post operations although this will be discussed as the time – no further operations are planned at the moment) Social: Accompanying and assisting me on shopping trips when required Accompanying and assisting me when accessing social and leisure activities including going to the cinema and for walks Accompanying and assisting me at doctors/hospital appointments when required Accompanying and assisting me when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails. Driving me on occasional longer journeys Accompanying me to social meetings eg meeting friends, family The above duties will involve driving me in your car for which mileage will be paid Person specification The successful applicant will be: Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful Creative Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
