Work in social care Working as a Personal Assistant Personal Assistant (PA) DP2245 Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)Location: Horsham Hourly rate: £9.50 Per Hour (£9.25 Per Hour Whilst Probationary Period) Hours/shifts: 1.30 PM To 6.30 PM Weekdays And 1.00 PM To 7.00 Pm As Required And This Might Be Very Irregular hours as it is to cover for holiday and sickness Summary I am a 48 year old disabled lady looking for support during my live in carers break between the hours of 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm weekdays and the tasks that I will require you to do are very varied but they will include helping me with art and craft work, admin and computer work and the associated paperwork, laminating, organising things, making telephone calls, accompanying me to hospital appointments, shopping, cinema etc. It is helpful for someone to drive me but it is not essential. As the hours for this position are not guaranteed it is not possible for me to state the actual hours required as this position is for a flexible person to cover hours as required and to cover for holiday as required so the days of the week will alter. It would also be helpful but not essential if the person could be available for weekend work as required and these hours will be 1pm to 7pm and these will not be regular hours as these will be as required aswell. DescriptionTypical dutiesDomestic - Preparing drinks, snacks and meals. Assisting and accompanying me shopping as required.Correspondence e.g. form-filling, assisting with paperwork generated from computer work and also dealing with post etcMaking phone calls on my behalf Personal Care: Catheter care Dressing and undressing as required and this mainly comprises putting extra layers eg shawl, hat, scarf and taking off or putting on jackets with the assistance of my live in carer Assistance from my live in carer as required eg whilst I am on bed-rest with getting in and out of bed using a ceiling hoist Assistance with medication as required after lunch. Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat eg putting my feeding strap on and my Special fork and special plate and lap tray etc. Social: • Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required• Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including cinema. • Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required• Occasional longer journeys• Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities Person specification The successful applicant will be: • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties to be able to keep up with my electric wheelchair• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Creative• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
