Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker
Location: Southwater, Horsham
Hourly rate: £11.50 weekday and £ 13.00 weekends
Reference: DP7154
Hours/shifts: 1 hour am and 1 hour pm on Sundays (possibility of hours increasing)
Bank staff required to cover holiday and sickness

• I am looking for PA(s) to support my dad
• My dad is in his eighties and loves his garden especially his roses and clematis
• He enjoys Western Films Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood and listening to country and western music especially Johnny Cash.
• My dad enjoys spending time with his family and loves to go on trips out to the garden centre or the sea side.
• He watches all the soaps and sits in front of the TV all day and evening.
• He likes to talk about his life – lorry driving, Army and Navy and enjoys a laugh.
• He is fiercely independent with conservative values and dislikes this not being respected.
• This is a rewarding role with training provided

Typical duties

Domestic -
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning and tidying
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Minor household maintenance eg changing light bulbs
Shopping on occasion
Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this.

Personal Care: 
•Lay out change of clothes
•Help with dispensing tablets
• Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
• Mealtimes encouraging him to eat and drink and recording this.

• Engaging in conversation

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
