Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Hourly rate: £11.00 - £12.00 per hour

Hours/shifts: 1-2 cover/bank PA’s to cover staff holiday and absence
4 hours a day Monday – Thursday mid morning to early afternoon actual start time by mutual agreement

Summary 
• We are looking for 1-2 PAs on a casual basis to cover staff absence.
• Working with our existing staff to accompany our son on trips out engaging him in activities that he enjoys and keeping him safe.
• Our disabled son is in his forties living with us in Crawley.
• He has a great sense of humour and is a fun guy to be with.
• He loves books, magazines, drawing and craft activities and really enjoys going out on trains and buses.

• This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided.

Other Requirements 

• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.
• Ideally you will have a UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

Description
Typical duties

Personal Care: 
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Assisting and encouraging hand-washing to ensure our son’s hygiene

Social:
• Accompanying our son on trips out days out engaging him in activities that he enjoys and keeping him safe.
• The above duties will involve driving our son in the PA’s car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when needed.

The successful applicant will be:

• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Honest and cheerful disposition
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
