Work in social care Working as a Personal Assistant Personal Assistant/ Support Worker SG1596 Job Title: Personal Assistant/ Support WorkerLocation: Romsey Hourly rate: £11.40 Reference: SG1596 Hours/shifts: 2 hours per week – days/times to be agreed with employer Summary • Are you looking for a flexible role as a Personal Assistant to help me live independently?• I am a blind man with a lovely guide dog who needs some extra support with a variety of tasks• There will be some domestic tasks and shopping involved• On occasions you will have the opportunity to assist me on social outings such as to the gym and to my church, which is very important to me. • You will be comfortable with dogs as I have a wonderful guide dog • This is a rewarding and interesting role and full training will be provided. Other Requirements • Must be comfortable with pets All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. DescriptionTypical duties may includeDomestic - Assistance with occasional shopping, e.g. clothes & fruit / veg, pet shopFood prep & cooking & kitchen duties – help to check no mould on refrigerated foods. Mop kitchen floor & order in cabinets. Read labels etc. Electricity & Gas meter readings. Clean bins Help with checking for online grocery list, also nuts, seeds, dried fruits, supplements etc. Support with limited house cleaning, stocks of cleaning agents & sorting toiletries & organising clothes & bedding. Support with charging of electrical gadgetsSupport with clothes washing (I pay for ironing and a house cleaner). To be my eyes: admin and in the garden & DIY needs, e.g. watering plants; Filling in forms; Reading post & newsletters; miscellaneous admin tasks. Be my eyes to check clothes in good order. Help with taking bottles to bottle bank; Support with computer operating re UC, maintaining & updating diary / calendar & reading emails & websites etc. Social: • Social outings and occasionally free run guide dog.• Transport to gym. • If no friends to assist: Transport to church, only when weather is rainy / bad and when after dark (very rarely).
