Hours/shifts:  Total of 11 hours per week.  10.00-15.30 every Monday & Friday (some flexibility appreciated).  Job Share considered - these hours could be worked by one or more PA’s

Summary
I am a positive-minded gay man in my 40s with a number of physical disabilities who has good days and harder days.
I am looking for a reliable, engaging and sociable person with similar interests to assist me in accessing the community.  I need social support to pursue my hobbies and interests to include visiting National Trust & RHS properties and Garden Centres, and going to the Cinema to name a few.  I also need assistance to attend medical appointments and fulfil work and training commitments. 
Tasks will include prompting me to eat, drink & take medication, as well as pushing me in my wheelchair and helping me get in and out of the car on harder days.  You should be a driver with your own car.

Job Description
Typical duties:

Social:   
• Accompanying and assisting employer in accessing social and leisure activities, such as visiting National Trust & RHS properties, Garden Centres and the Cinema
• Accompanying and assisting employer to GP/hospital/medical appointments
• Accompanying and assisting employer to access work and training commitments
• Occasional longer journeys (e.g. Southampton)
• Pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out 
• You should be a driver with access to your own car, the above duties will involve driving the employer in your own car, supporting him to get in/out of his wheelchair and the car and lifting a folding wheelchair in/out of car
• Ensuring employer’s safety at all times
• Any other reasonable task whilst out and about

Domestic:
• Prompting me to eat, drink if at home or when out
• Occasionally preparing drinks, snacks and meals
• Any other reasonable household task

Personal Care: 
• Prompting me to take my medications at the correct times and making sure I have these with me when out
• Minimal support with personal care required when out and about to include:
• help with accessing the toilet facilities
• ensuring employer’s safety at all times
• Any other reasonable personal care tasks
• Awareness of epilepsy and what to do in unlikely event of seizure

Person specification
The successful applicant must:    
• have a clean UK driving license 
• have access to own vehicle 
• Be comfortable with cats 
• Be respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
• Be trustworthy and reliable with good time-keeping
• Be able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Be hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Be fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Be patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Be cheerful and engaging
• Be able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Be legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Be able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to the role.
