Flexibility essential. SummaryI am the Mother of a 4 year old boy who is on the autistic spectrum. He is non-verbal and uses hand signals and gestures to communicate. He is a happy, bubbly and adventurous child who loves being outdoors.I am looking for a reliable, trustworthy and patient person to spend time with him socially, at home and out in the community, taking him to participate in activities he enjoys or simply playing with him. He needs assistance with personal care, accessing snacks/drinks and constant supervision, ensuring his safety at all times. Experience of working with children with Special Needs would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided. Driver preferred, although again not essential. DescriptionTypical duties Personal Care: • Changing nappies• Dressing/changing clothes• Washing/drying if toileting accident occurs• Wiping/washing face and hands as needed• Applying sun cream as required• Ensuring child is appropriately clothed for weather, i.e. putting coat on/taking off as necessary • Helping with any other aspect of personal care as required and directed by the employer• Assistance with accessing drinks/snacks and occasional help with eating as required Social: Accompanying child to access social and leisure activities as required outside of the home, such as Soft Play and the local Park/playgroundEngaging child in play and fun and stimulating activities at home, such as games, arts and craftsPushing the child’s pushchair when outThe above duties will involve driving the child in the PA’s own car where applicable to include lifting child in and out of car seat, folding pushchair and putting in and out of carEnsuring child’s safety at all times, administering First Aid as requiredAny other reasonable tasks as required Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Creative• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
