Summary We are looking for one or more personal assistants to join our existing PA team to support our dynamic, giggly, active, 8 year old daughter who loves the outdoors. The role will involve taking her out to various locations and taking part in her favourite activities such walks, playgrounds, swimming and soft play; personal care will also be involved in this role too. This will be a 2:1 role due to her high level of needs. Our daughter has ASD and Global Delay and due to this she has little or no sense of danger (but has lots of energy!). She will need someone who has the energy to keep up with her and the kindness and patience to support her when she displays challenging behaviours. Experience of our daughter’s conditions would be useful but a willingness to learn would be just as beneficial. Other Requirements • Must be comfortable with pets (We have a cat!)• Someone who is willing to refrain from smoking around our children• Must have a UK driving licence • Must have access to own vehicle, mileage costs will be paid for• Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. DescriptionTypical duties Personal Care: Toileting, nappy changes, cleaning her up, changing clothes.Preparing and giving food and drinks.Providing assistance to eat, drink and not to spit or throw the food or drink.Any other reasonable personal care tasks when required. Social: Taking her to various activities to enhance her social learning, the park, swimming, soft play, days out to adventure playgrounds, farms, zoos etc, meeting friends, attending birthday parties.Planning and providing play activities at our home if required e.g. Sensory play activitiesSome activities will involve taking her out in the PA’s car, using the car seat provided.To use a buggy to push our daughter around when required.Support to manage behaviours when they do arise. To be mindful of the potential risks to our daughter when out and about Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: Experience of ASD and/or global delay is preferred but this is not essential as a willingness to learn. Be fit and healthy to undertake the role list above. Be patient, friendly but firm when needed with her.
