Job Title: Personal Assistants/Support Workers for 2:1 role

Hours/shifts: 9 hours per fortnight, days and times flexible.


We are the parents to a very energetic, friendly and loving 11 year old son. We are looking for PA’s who are caring, loving and reliable to support him to go out and have fun, allowing us time to have a break. He particularly likes going for walks over to the park and spending time on the swings.

Our son has Autism and his behaviour can be quite challenging as he finds it difficult control his energy levels. He is also non-verbal and will need PA’s who can read him well in order to understand his needs and feelings. Assistance with some personal care is also involved.
This role requires 2:1 care therefore you will always be working with another PA. The work may involve taking him on outings/activities in a car, for which mileage will be paid.

Other Requirements 
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours/smoke away from the premises, away from our son.

Typical duties

Personal Care: 
• To assist our son to eat and drink
• Support and encouragement getting dressed and undressed if required
• Assistance with buttons/fastenings if required
• Changing nappies, support/assistance to clean himself when required
• Encouraging him to use the toilet
• Encourage him to meet more of his personal needs if required. i.e. toilet, brushing teeth

Taking our son on trips out e.g. for walks, to the park, to the play ground, swimming
Supporting with our son’s routines at home if needed.
Supporting him to learn new skills and carry out activities to support his development
The above duties may involve taking our son out in your car.

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
• An experience or an understanding of children with Autism and non verbal communication is preferred.
• Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
