Hours/shifts: Permanent or adhoc shifts are available. Flexibility would be an advantage to help cover for holidays and sickness.
Example shifts 7 days a week
Waking night duty carer. 10pm to 7am.
Morning duty carer 9.30am to 11.30am.
Night Carer 10pm – midnight
Afternoon carer half an hour to an hour between 4pm and 6pm

• The client lives at home but needs help to achieve a level of independent living. He has a number of health issues, but these can be managed with good, efficient and skilled carers.
• Staff will need a wide range of caring skills which will reflect the client’s lifestyle and choices. Whilst most of the care will be done at home, there will be times when he is hospitalised, and carers will be expected to work their shifts alongside the medical staff ensuring his safety at all times.
• The client has a head injury, Sleep apnoea, is registered blind with Diabetes Type 2 and is a wheelchair user, so experience of any or all these conditions will be an advantage.

Typical Duties
• Observe and assist as necessary whilst client is sleeping.
• Assisting with Personal Care, including skin care, bathing, shaving, oral care, toileting (including management of bladder & bowels), dressing, hair care.
• Enabling mobility, including Moving & Handling transfers using a hoist and other mobility aid equipment.
• Checking of specialist equipment e.g. Apap machine and wheelchairs.
• Dietetics, including assistance with menu planning, preparing, serving and storing of foods.
• Assist client to fulfil activities of daily living
• Prepare, check, administer and record medications as prescribed by medical team.
• Awareness and appropriate support of sensory loss.
• Day to day household tasks e.g. changing beds, laundry, ironing, shopping, refuse disposal.
• Negotiate breaks with client to ensure that these are consented and mutually suitable.
• Reporting & Recording as per company procedure.
• Adhering to company policies and procedures at all times.

• Other Requirements 
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.

• Desirable Criteria
• Non Smoker preferred. Smoking is not permitted in the house or car.
• Have good communication skills with blind and/or deaf awareness.
• Have experience of and qualifications of working in a care setting.

• Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
