Support Worker/Personal Assistant required for a sociable 6 year old boy who has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair. 

  • He will need help to get ready for school in the mornings.
  • Preparation of breakfasts for our son and his sibling
  • Preparation of packed lunches for our son and his sibling
  • Help will be needed to tidy the kitchen
  • Occasionally, our son may need to be pushed to school in his wheelchair (5 minute walk)
  • Applicants must be caring, cheerful, reliable, patient and flexible.

Monday to Wednesday/Thursday – 7.30 am to 8.30 or 8.45 am

Other Requirements
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Job Description

Nature of the work:

To provide 1-1 support to enable our son to get ready for school in a calm and caring manner. This will involve supporting parents to get all children ready for school and will include preparation of breakfasts and packed lunches, and clearing up. Occasionally, you may be required to take our son to school.

Typical duties:

  • Help with getting dressed and ready for school.
  • Help with transferring from chair to wheelchair and toilet.
  • Helping with toileting, as required.


  • Encouraging and prompting him.
  • Chatting to him.
  • Being calm and positive so that the preparation for school runs smoothly.
  • Taking him to school, when needed.

Person specification

The successful applicant will be:

  • Enjoy being with a young child who has physical disabilities.
  • Be cheerful, positive and calm.
  • Be very reliable with good timekeeping.
  • Be flexible.
  • Be patient but assertive, firm and self-motivated.
  • Have experience of working with children with disabilities is desirable but not essential.
  • Fit and healthy enough to undertake the required duties.
  • Legally permitted to work in the UK.
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard.
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of health and safety.
  • Be respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Able to follow instructions and work on own initiative.
  • Be honest and trustworthy.
