Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Hourly rate:   £10.00

Hours/shifts: Term time

4 to 5 hours each week alternating:

Week 1 - either Weds or Thurs a’noon for 4 hours

Week 2 - either Sat or Sun for 5 hours

(We can be flexible with the above days and


School holidays

7 hours a week on one weekday

(We can be flexible with which weekday)




 Calm good natured person to look after our 5 year old son who has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and Autism at home and in the local community.

  • Sometimes acting as an extra pair of hands on weekend family outings
  • Some personal care is required.
  • At our home to engage and occupy our son by playing alongside him and his favourite toys, or you setting up activities and helpful tasks for you both to do together inside - or
  • outside in our garden which he particularly enjoys.
  • Accompany our son on trips out he loves he loves being outside, keeping him safe he requires constant supervision.
  • Experience of being with children with complex learning needs is essential.
  • Full clean driver’s licence

Other Requirements


  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Must have a UK driving licence
  • Must have access to own vehicle

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Personal care-       

  • Changing nappies
  • Dressing and undressing/helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, eg assisting our son to get changed at the swimming pool.
  • Snacks and mealtimes - cutting up food, assistance to eat
  • Bathing - running bath, helping our son in and out, to wash, brush teeth, dry and get dressed.


Domestic tasks: 


  • Tidy toys or activities away after a shift.
  • Help over a mealtime by heating up and serving food that the employer has prepared


  • Accompanying our son on outings in the local area eg. to the countryside or parkland, train station, swimming pool, a familiar café.
  • Accompanying the whole family on outings.
  • Some of the above duties may involve you driving our son in your car.
  • You will hold our son’s hand on all outings and make sure he is wearing his harness.
