Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker

Hourly rate: £10.00 per hour

Hours/shifts: x2 shifts a week for a total of 5 hours a week (Term Time)

 

Minimum 1 day (6 hours) per week during School Holidays.

 

Times and shifts to be flexible and mutually agreed

 

Summary

 

         

Description

  • We are parents to our lovely 6 year old autistic non verbal son who loves people, cuddles, outdoor activities and swimming. He is a happy active boy who loves being outdoors and currently shows little interest in toys or the television. He has no sense of danger and can throw things and will put things in his mouth.
  • We are looking for one or two experienced and calm PAs to engage with our son in activities such as swimming and sensory play and the opportunity to try new things in the local community, keeping him safe.
  • Duties will include some personal care.
  • Access to a car with a full clean driver’s licence (would consider a non-driver if can demonstrate practical alternatives, e.g proximity to family home/using public transport
  • Experience of working with children with additional needs is essential

 

      

  • All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
  • Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

 

Typical duties

 

Personal Care: 

  • Nappy changing.
  • Ensure he and his environment are clean and hygienic eg  hand washing.
  • Helping my son to get dressed and undressed when needed eg when going swimming.
  •  Mealtimes supervision, generally this will be a packed lunch.

 

Social:

  •  Accompanying employer’s son on trips out e.g. swimming, play zone, sensory room or a trip to the park, keeping him safe.
  • The above duties will involve driving the employer’s son in the PA’s car
