Job Title: Personal Support Assistant/ Care support worker

Hourly rate: £9.50p/h

Hours/shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 1 hr 7-8am for personal care. Additional hours available for social support.

Summary:

  • I am a 14 year old young lad looking for a PA to assist with getting ready for school and to support me to access the community safely to participate in fun and planned activities.
  • I have Muscular Dystrophy and I am full time wheelchair user (which is powered) full training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • I live at home with my parents who will be taking on the role of the employer and will be working alongside you to ensure that all my needs are met.
  • I enjoy sailing, swimming, going to the cinema and I have a particular love for art. With the right support I would like to join the local gym.
  • The role is predominately to enable and support me although there is a limited amount of personal care tasks involved in this role.
  • I am a confident lad who enjoys the company of others. I require a skilled PA with a proactive approach to support me to enable me to have a fun and varied time. I am described as the lovely and sociable lad when I feel settled and get to know the people caring for me.
  • I require a driver and as such you will have use of my motability vehicle.
  • This is an interesting and rewarding role working alongside a lovely and supportive family.

Other Requirements       

  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Must have a UK driving licence

Description

Typical duties

Domestic:      

  • Preparing drinks, snacks and meals and tidying away
  • Shopping

Personal Care: 

  • Assistance with showering, washing, dressing and toileting.  

Social:   

  • Accompanying and assisting on shopping trips when required
  • Accompany me when accessing social and leisure activities, including going swimming and supporting me when in the swimming pool.
  • Driving and accompanying to social events such as: the cinema and sailing.
  • Accompanying and supporting me on trips out with family and friends (when required).
  • The above duties will involve driving me in my motability vehicle.
  • Whilst on duty at the employer’s home; watching TV, planning and assisting with homework and art and craft activities.

Person specification

The successful applicant will: 

  • Have previous experience of working young clients is preferred
  • be an excellent communicator with outgoing personality
  • have previous experience with wheelchair users an advantage however training can be provided
  • be reliable and trustworthy
