DescriptionTypical duties: The tasks will vary, according to the present needs and will includeGeneral Personal tasks • Help with dressing eg at swimming pool• Changing incontinence pads• Preparing nutritional drinks and medication• To assist in supervising our son in the home or out on visits either accompanied by parents or unaccompanied during weekdays and weekends• Evenings may occasionally be required and only if agreeable• Attending relevant meetings with our Social Worker and Behavioural professionalsSocial activities – as required • Going to the cinema (autism friendly showings at the VUE and Harbour Lights• Going swimming (e.g. Hydro Pool, Rose Road, Wildern School Swimming Pool)• Accompany parents on activities or taking their son out on their own• Assist parents and their son in the home or out on visits• Go to Springwell School Special Needs Club (Saturdays)• Marwell Zoo (a carer’s pass covers the cost of JT and the carer)• Paulton’s Park (subject to obtaining a carers pass)• Local parks to be advised by the parents• Sensory play activities in the home (e.g. Tac Pac).• Other activities the carer may like to recommend• More information in the Owner’s Manual and All About Me booklet to be provided.• Person specificationThe successful applicant will be: (please add in/delete as applicable) • Male * due to personal care needs • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality• Reliable with good time-keeping• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties• Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills• Honest and cheerful• Creative• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & SafetyPrevious experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
