A young and energetic family in Basingstoke with two children is looking for the support of a personal assistant to provide general support to parents and their children, helping to achieve greater independence and safe access in the home and local community.

We are a young family with 2 children aged 4 and 3, a girl and boy. We have visual impairments and would like to provide the same opportunities for our children as their peers already have. It is important to us that our children can learn, play and build skills just like any child.

We need an active, fun loving person who can assist us with general activities, such as going to the cinema, play ground, swimming, zoo and others. Please still apply, even if you can’t cover all of the listed hours, we will try to share the working hour across a small team if needed. Formal qualifications are not required, however, the right applicants have to be prepared to learn and adapt to us as a family. We can facilitate formal training and where needed.


12:30 – 15:30 Monday – Wednesday (Nursery pick up & play)
14:45 – 15:30 Thursday
3 hours Saturdays (hours are flexible –definite rota will be given 2 weeks in advance, staff to work minimum of 1 Saturday/month)
Additional hours might be available during school holidays.

Must be comfortable with pets- Does not apply
Car owner and driver of benefit but not essential.
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Domestic -

Assist with the setting-up, running and clearing away of activities at home or in the local community
Occasionally to assist the parents with shopping, assistance reading letters, correspondence, fill in forms.

Personal Care:

May be required to help the children in using the toilet

Dressing and undressing/ helping the children with buttons and fastenings to get changed at the swimming

May be required to help the children at mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat


• To support nursery pick ups (Monday -Thursday) and to assist with attending leisure activities together with mum

• Assist with the setting-up, running and clearing away of activities at home or in the local community

• Ensure that any areas for activities, materials and equipment are suitable for the children’s ages and safe

• Carry out all duties in line with instructions given by the parents and in line with the children’s development plans and behavioral guidance
• Under guidance from the parents engage and interact appropriately during the activity and offer a small range of options for the children to make suitable choices
• Assist the parents as appropriate to research new activities and aid their involvement in making enquiries about costs, accessibility and travel arrangements

• Assist in using public transport or assist with transport to and from activities by using the employee’s car – car owner and driver of benefit but not essential

• Provide regular feed back and report concerns in any areas to the parents

• Listen to and Assist in the emotional needs of parents

• Report all accidents, near misses and incidents to the parents
• Be able to relate practically and emotionally to my son needs (suspected Asperger’s/challenging behavior) to my daughters needs (mild visual impairment) and to the needs of the parents.
• To check and be conscientious of potential unsafe items/areas in the house, play ground etc. and while out and about
• Due to the age of the children there may be some lifting required as part of playing
• Occasionally to assist the parents with shopping, assistance reading letters, correspondence, fill in forms
• To Listen carefully to instructions and to follow them as detailed

• Respond to medical emergencies by assisting to contact emergency services and/or contact numbers supplied by family member.
• To record all relevant information and perform all necessary administrative tasks with complete confidentiality

• To ensure all relevant policies, procedures and instructions are followed
