Personal Care Assistant(s)/ Carer(s)/ Support Worker(s) required to help an 18 year old young man with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in Findon Valley

We are a busy, friendly household with two younger children (aged 11 and 9) and our son is easygoing, has a good sense of humour and is very able to communicate his needs. If you like gaming (especially Fifa, Call of Duty & Elder Scrolls) you'll get on well; also music, football and being outdoors. It would also be helpful if you can think of activities.

This role involves getting him up, dressed and ready for the day on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 08.00.  This usually takes around 90 minutes and involves hoisting and personal care. Once he is up, the carer will stay with him until 11.00 and drive him to college, approx 2 miles away. On days when he does not attend college, he may want to go shopping or attend other leisure activities.

Dan has a Motability VW Caddy which the postholder will be able to drive.  A full, clean driving licence held for at least one year is essential.

Experience of working with young people who have physical disabilities would be an advantage but is not essential, as training can be given. There will be a probationary period of six months, after which successful candidates will be issued employment contracts and be entitled to holiday pay.
