Job Title: Personal Care Assistant
Location: Bognor Regis           
Hourly rate: £9.50 per hour

Hours/shifts: 4 hours, 1 day a week 3- 7pm and up to 20 hours in the school holidays
Ability to cover other PA’s holiday and sickness
• Personal Care Assistant required to provide care for my active 10 year old son with a developmental age of 3 years old in his home and out and about in the community
• The role will involve one pick from school a week,
• Support is required with personal care and keeping him occupied during the day when mum is working
• Experience of working with children with additional needs is essential.

Typical duties
Personal Care:
Maintain the safety of my young son in our home and in the community; this involves constant supervision
Reassure him and comfort  him if he becomes anxious, upset or frustrated
Check and change nappies and encourage him to use toilet
Prepare and cook meals/snacks
Cut up his food and support him with feeding and drinking
Washing, bathing/showering, brushing teeth as required
Occasionally you may be required to give medication as directed by the employer
Ensure he uses his wheelchair safely and push if needed
Entertain, talk and read with, stimulate, play and interact with my son.
Have fun with him!
Encourage and support him to be independent where appropriate
Any other reasonable task
Pick my son up from school one day a week
Take my son to activities and participate fully e.g. swimming, playing football, cinema, bowling
Drive him in your car (you must have personal business insurance)
You will need to manage money on outings and keep all receipts to give to the employer

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Be able to learn and understand the disabled child’s needs and emotions
Be honest, cheerful, patient and caring
Be reliable, with excellent time keeping
Be able to respect privacy and confidentiality
Be able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Refrain from smoking while working
Be willing to be police checked (enhanced DBS).Please note that a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining the position.
Be a driver with own vehicle and clean full UK licence (must have personal business insurance)
Be legally allowed to work in the UK
Experience of working with children with additional needs is essential
