Own transport would be helpful.Training will be offered where appropriate Other Requirements• Support for a man with special needs in his early forties. • Someone who will assist our son with his personal, domestic and social tasks at home and out in the community.• Someone who is friendly, sociable, with active listening skills and willing to gradually understand his bespoke needs.• Full driving licence and own transport desirable. • Previous experience helpful but not as important as a caring and gentle disposition.• This is a potentially rewarding opportunity for both Care Assistant and client alike All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check DescriptionTypical duties Domestic - Helping with laundry, loading the washing machine, hanging out to dry, some ironing. Some help folding and putting away clothing and linen.Help changing bed linen.Support in general housework (cleaning, dusting, vacuuming)Support preparing drinks, snacks and meals.Shopping.Helping host his friends when they come for a meal or to visit.Help choose the right temperature (open /close windows.)Help with small amount of paper work as required.Help making phone calls as required. Personal Care: (some of the early morning duties listed below may not be required of all PA's.) Running bath and selecting correct water temperature. Support getting into and out of bath. Assist with some bathing, washing hair, towel drying.Assistance with applying creams, hair and skin careStraightening shirt collar after dressing himself.To give appropriate reassurance throughout these tasks.Assistance with medication (when prescribed)Helping him make the best choice of duvet for the time of year.Taking genuine interest when he chooses his clothes for the following day.Helping him to choose the appropriate coat clothing when going out. Social: Driving/accompanying/supporting/helping and advocating when necessary on occasions such as:Shopping trips when required.To doctors/hospital/dentist/optician appointments when required.Buying an item of clothing when required.To attend Day Care sessions when required.To attend leisure activities, such as cinema, church, or the theatre.To attend a therapy, lesson or course facility.To have lunch out in a restaurant or buy sandwiches and have a picnic.To visit friends or family members.To enable him to host friends or share a meal at his home. Other possible areas of support.To give assistance and encouragement using a camera and to process the results.To engage in Life Story work.Any other reasonable tasks requested.
