Personal Care Assistant GN5554 Job Title: Personal Care AssistantLocation: Shoreham-on-Sea Hourly rate: £12.35 Reference: GN5554 Hours/shifts: 9am to 5pm Tues/Thurs, Weds negotiable Summary • I am seeking a PA to join a team of carers who will cater for all of my son’s needs. His PAs need to keep him safe and happy, offering him choices in his everyday life. • He is a young man with a cracking sense of humour and is affectionately known to his team as Mr G. He loves people being silly and singing songs (particularly funny if out of tune). He is very tactile and enjoys a foot massage. He needs lots of reassurance and a kind voice. • He is assertive and he makes his feelings known through facial expressions and vocalising.• He is wheelchair dependent and non-verbal. He is gastrostomy fed and needs all of his care provided by others.• You will be working alongside another PA to provide 2:1 staffing.• All training will be provided. Other Requirements • Must be comfortable with pets • Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.• Must have a UK driving licence All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic:Hoover vehicle and wipe down interior surfaces, take for exterior clean at car wash. Ironing and dusting.Keeping bedroom room clean and tidy, in particular high contact areas. Empty red bin in bathroom and clean sink. Personal Care: Washing, dressing and changing pad. Hoisting. Using suction and PEP mask to aid airway control. Using feed pump and maintaining gastrostomy hygiene. Administration of medication. Supporting with oral hygiene. Completing stretches to help relax and physio. Supporting to maintain epilepsy with potential use of buccal midazolam. Social: Going out into the community for days out. Using his passes for National trust and Drusillas. Supporting him to attend Chailey to use Lifeskills Centre and meet his friends.
