Job Title: Personal Care Assistant
Location: East Grinstead
Hourly rate: £10-£12 depending on experience

Hours/shifts: 4-7pm Mon to Fri, will consider job share

• I am looking for someone special with an outgoing personality to help look after my 9 year old son.
• He loves companionship and enjoys listening to people chatting about all sorts of things, as well as being a bit of a telly addict and often has 2 tv’s on at the same time. He also loves being read to and is currently enjoying the Harry Potter books.
• The role is based in our home from 4-7pm and involves welcoming him home from school transport alongside me, assistance with personal care and transfers as well as keeping him company until bed-time.
• My son has complex medical needs, including a tracheostomy and catheter.
• This is a rewarding role and although ideally you will have experience of looking after someone with a range of support needs, it is more important that you are kind, have a sense of humour and are willing to learn as full training will be given.
• Initial pay rate will depend on your past experience and existing level of training

Other Requirements

• Non smoker required due to medical reasons
• Must be willing to attend training arranged by the employer
• You will be required to wear appropriate PPE which will be provided by the employer

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

Domestic -
Keeping personal space clean and tidy.

Personal Care:
• Tracheostomy care and suctioning
• Catheter care
• Gastrostomy feeding
• Washing and bathing/showering
• General hair/skin care
• Continence care
• Full support with all aspects of personal care, eg washing, dressing and getting into bed
• Medication
• Massage of limbs to improve circulation

• Ensuring my son feels included by engaging with him through reading and chatting to him whilst you support him.
