Job Title: Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker

Hours/shifts: 24 Hours over 3 days (8.30am-5.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday), with some flexibility & possibility of extra hrs
Also looking for anyone wanting bank work, to cover holidays, and extra hrs

Summary:
We are looking for a special lady to join us in supporting and caring for our 29 year old daughter, who has multiple special needs and is fully wheelchair dependent. You will work alongside Jayne our other very special PA, who also works Tuesday to Thursday.

Our daughter is generally very content and happy with life, and has a cheeky disposition, it is a delight to hear her regular chuckle, as she engages in jovial banter. She loves company and receiving plenty of hugs.

She also enjoys visiting cafe’s for a cuppa and a snack. She has a passion for singing, and listening to music. She enjoys a wide variety of songs eg. Abba, S-club 7, Beatles, Christmas songs (all year round!!!!!!!) and Christian praise songs.

We are very excited to have recently brought our daughter to live in the family home in Loxwood, after spending 9 years in supported living, receiving 24 hour care and support.

As part of your role, you will be providing full support within the home and supporting her to go out to take part in activities she enjoys.
This is a rewarding role, with full training provided.

Applicants must hold a full driving license.

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued with an employment contract

Your role will involve :-
All personal care - which will involve using hoist, slings and slide sheets.
Administration of medication and completing of record charts as required.
Helping with daily physio exercises.
Assisting with eating and drinking.
Taking our daughter out and about - cafe’s, garden centres, parks etc.
Supporting with planned activities - eg swimming, attending sensory story time. Playing simple games, craft activities and listening to music together.
Basic domestic tasks relating e.g. changing bed, loading washing machine, keeping bedroom and shower room, clean and tidy.

About You:

Whilst previous experience of working with people who have severe physical and mental disabilities is desirable, the qualities of enthusiasm, commitment and a sense of fun, with a person centred approach are more important, as full training will be given. You will need to be trustworthy, reliable, patient, self-motivated and able to work together as part of a team. You will need a full UK driving licence. Female, due to need to carry out personal care. Our home is a non-smoking home, so if you smoke, this would need to be done outside, thank you.
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
