Hours/shifts: Casual worker required for Evenings/Weekends/School Holidays. Days and hours to be agreed by mutual agreement.

Summary
• I am looking for a kind and patient carer to look after my 5 year old son.
• My son has a syndrome that affects all areas of his development.
• He is a very happy child who is starting to learn PECS, as a way of communicating.
• My son is just starting to learn to walk, so he still uses a pushchair when not in the home environment.
• I would like a PA who can help my son enjoy fun activities such as; sensory play, travelling on buses and trains and visiting places like the Sea Life Centre.
• I am open to ideas and suggestions on places that you think he would enjoy!
• Ideally I would like a driver with their own car, so that you can enjoy and access a variety of activities.
• This is a rewarding role where you can help a loving and happy little boy achieve milestones in his development and together you can experience new things.

Other Requirements
• Non-smoker preferred or someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours.
• Driving licence and access to own vehicle desirable
• Must be able to get business use on own vehicle.
• Vehicle must have ISOFIX and top tethers in the boot, so as to accommodate the car seat.

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Description
Typical duties

Domestic -
Most support will be ‘out and about’ however if you are ever supporting the child in the home there may be some domestic tasks associated with the care and wellbeing of the child. For example;
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Tidying up after activities/preparing meals/food

Personal Care:
• Changing nappies
• Dressing and undressing
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example getting the child changes for activities such as swimming. Cleaning teeth/brushing hair if supporting in the home environment.
• Getting in and out of the pushchair/car seat
• Mealtimes/snacks e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat/supervision and monitoring when eating

Social:
• Supporting and caring for the child when access fun activities such as;
• Traveling on trains/buses
• Going to watch the planes at Gatwick
• Sensory play/activities
• Visiting farms
• Sea Life Centre
• Parks
• The above duties will involve driving the child in the PA’s car, lifting the folding pushchair in/out of car, pushing the child’s pushchair when out

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
