Reference: DP6987 Hours/shifts: Hours are negotiable at interview but ideally someone that could cover some weekends Summary I am a 20-year-old man with Cerebral Palsy and epilepsy. I am non-verbal and a wheelchair user. I enjoy doing fun things, outings and being around people. I require outgoing, friendly, and well organised personal care assistant/carers to join my amazing, existing team of PAs to support me with my personal care in the morning and afternoons. The mornings will involve assisting getting me ready for me to go to my day centre and the afternoons will require you to assist with a Cecostomy washout, shower, and medications.All training will be provided for aspects of my care, but experience of Epilepsy would be an advantage. I have been told I am mischievous and have a good sense of humour, there is never a dull moment with me! Other Requirements • Someone who is willing to refrain from smoking during work hours or smoke away from the property.• Must have a UK driving licence • Will be required to take regular lateral flow tests and report results to senior PA/employer.Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. DescriptionTypical duties Domestic - Changing/making bedWashing syringes and drying them and putting them away in appropriate place.Replenish water jugs with boiled, cool waterLaundry - putting clothes in the basket ready be washedGeneral cleaning and taking clinical waste out. TidyingGetting ready to go out e,g, packing resus drugs, making sure oxygen cylinder is full, and organising any other items as neededContact emergency services if required. Personal Care: • Washing – supporting with a full body wash, towelling dry and drying hair• Cleaning glasses and putting them on• Dressing• Putting splints on• General hair/skin care including brushing hair, adding hair products, deodorant and after shave.• Brushing teeth• Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist• Assistance with medication i.e. drawing meds, using PEG, filling in MARS charts accurately (if needed) • If oxygen is required, support to put on mask, turn oxygen cylinder on to the correct setting required.• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') • PEG feeds Social: Accompanying on trips out e.g. lunch, breakfast.Pushing wheelchair when out.
