Personal Care Assistants DP1817 Job Title: Personal Care AssistantLocation: Worthing Hourly rate: £10-£15 Reference: DP1817 Hours/shifts: Role 1-Term time- 7am-8am at £15. This is currently for 4 weekdays per week but please apply if you can cover any of the morning shifts. School holiday mornings are also available at a later start time.Role 2- 5 hours on 2 weekend days a month (sat or sun) and ad-hoc hours during school holidays Summary I am looking for a carer for my son, this early shift involves getting him out of bed, dressed, fed, and ready for school pick up at 7.50am The weekend hours are for social activities and to take my son out and about. Carer must be physically fit, as some manual handling is involved.Be willing to learn or be able to administer medication via gastrostomy. Be familiar with using a hoist preferable but not essential as training can be given. My son is 17 years old (almost 18), although very small for his age, he is non verbal, and needs assistance with every aspect of his life, therefore fully reliant on his carers. He loves being outdoors whatever the weather. Other Requirements • Having a UK driving licence is an advantage but not essential. We have a Motability car so will need to be over 25 for business purposes if you are a driver.• Must be willing to wear relevant PPE• Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checkSuccessful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. DescriptionTypical duties Domestic:Preparing drinks, snacks and meals. Personal Care: • Washing and bathing/showering – • Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat• Physiotherapy exercises • Getting dressed and undressed• Changing continence pads Social: Taking my son for a walk outside. This may involve pushing his manual wheelchair or buggy.He enjoys being at the seafront and having an ice creamEntertaining him and occupying him whilst at home.
