Job Title: Personal Care Assistant

Role 1
• I’m looking for a physically fit enthusiastic early riser to work with me and my son, each morning.
• He has an early start and needs to be ready by 8.10am
• 7.10am start, hence special rate of £15 per hour, term time only, approx. 3-4 days per week,
• Tasks include, personal care, giving medication via gastro, getting him dressed, into wheelchair, drink and breakfast, gastro feed, and ready at the door by 8.10am to leave.
• School holiday hours are available, similar task, 8am to 9am, at my usual rate of £11 per hour.

Role 2
• Helping after school with mealtime and pre bedtime, and bed time routine, every Thursday 4.30-6pm, every other Friday 4.30-7pm
• Pays £11 per hour,

Role 3
• Help in school holiday, entertaining my son during the day at home and out an about. Hours to be arranged.
• Driver preferred, but not essential, as long as you like walking.

Other Requirements
Having a UK driving licence is an advantage but not essential. We have a Motability car so will need to be over 25 for business purposes if you are a driver.

Description
Typical duties

Domestic:
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.

Personal Care:
• Washing and bathing/showering –
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required,
• Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
• Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
• Physiotherapy exercises
• Getting dressed and undressed
• Changing continence pads

Social:
Taking my son for a walk outside. This may involve pushing his manual wheelchair or buggy.
He enjoys being at the seafront and having an ice cream
Entertaining him and occupying him whilst at home.

The successful applicant will be:

Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
