Summary

  • Reliable and caring PA/Care workers are required to support an elderly, frail gentleman with daily living tasks
  • He lives with his wife in Fernhurst village 
  • He suffers from osteo-arthritis and chronic spondylosis which means his mobility is poor and he can be unsteady on his feet so finds it difficult carrying out tasks safely
  • You would be required to provide assistance with some personal care but also to help improve his quality of life by being able to spend time chatting and engaging in enjoyable activities
  • The role is to help enable  his also frail wife to continue to care for her husband
  • Church is very important to him so occasional support to help him to attend on a Sunday would be desirable
  • A degree of flexibility with the hours would be beneficial
  • There could be a possibility of more hours

Hours/Shifts

8.30/9am for 2 hours each morning

5-7pm each evening

Other Requirements

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

To support elderly, frail gentleman with activities of daily living whilst improving his quality of life by engaging with him and encouraging stimulating activities

Typical duties

Domestic -       

  • Light household tasks such as putting washing in and changing beds
  • If you enjoy cooking then making a meal would be desirable otherwise heating up food and making sandwiches

Personal Care:

  • Supporting with washing and dressing
  • Shaving
  • Support to use toilet
  • To promote exercise and follow exercise plan from physios

Social:            

  • Encouragement to engage in activities that have been enjoyed in the past such as listening to music, choosing a film, being read to or just chatting about the past.
  • The occasional trip out would be nice plus support to attend church on a Sunday

  • Non smoker
  • Driving license and access to car desirable due to rural location
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be able to speak and understand English to a good standard due to speech difficulties 
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience is not essential but will be an advantage
