Job Title: Support Worker

Location: Basingstoke            

Hourly rate: £12 per hour PAYE/£13 per hour self-employed

Hours/shifts: 7 am to 6.30 pm, looking for 1 or 2 days per week depending on candidate availability




  • An unusually varied care position, combining the provision of personal care along with providing the employer with support work during the day. The employer is the Chief Executive of a unique and leading UK charity, giving the employee a diverse work environment and excitement of being part of a wider team.
  • To assist with day to day activities which ensure employer is able to live as independently as possible. Personal care in the mornings (toileting, bathing and dressing) and during the day as required.
  • To be physically fit and able to assist employer with moving and handling (using equipment where necessary such as a hoist - training will be provided)
  • Have the ability to work long days as required, including occasional weekend work
  • To be able to travel within Europe
  • Hold a British or EU passport, pass security checks and a CRB check
  • The work requires flexibility and sometimes being asked to work at short notice
  • An interest in charity work, learning new skills and being part of a team


Other Requirements

UK driving licence preferable but not essential as I drive my own adapted vehicle

Access to own vehicle preferred if candidate has their own vehicle to make transport to my home reliable (as opposed to using public transport)

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Domestic -      

Helping with laundry, washing and drying

Bed making

Taking out rubbish

General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.

Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.


Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork

Making tea for the employer's guests

Personal Care:  

Washing and bathing

Assistance with applying cream

General hair/skin care

Using the toilet

Dressing and undressing

Assistance with getting out of bed using a hoist

Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets

swimming pool/gym.

Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')

Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat



Accompanying and assisting employer to travel to work place and provide support work during the day

Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required

Occasional longer journeys to attend business meetings as part of the employers work

Accompanying to social meetings eg friends, family

The successful applicant will be:

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
