I am a 35 year old able bodied man with Asperger’s Syndrome living in my own apartment.

I’m looking to employ one or two people
I require assistance with general day to day domestic tasks
I also require assistance to better access and socialise within my local community.
I need encouragement and support to improve my general daily living and social skills

I also need support to maintain my mental and physical wellbeing.
I would really like to become more independent and confident.

I need someone with good knowledge of social networking and a keen interest in sports/keep fit.

Cooking skills are also desirable.

Job share preferred

You will need to be available afternoons and evenings. (This can be discussed)


Please note: Applicants MUST have experience supporting adults with Asperger’s/Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Description

To encourage and support the client to improve his daily living skills, social skills and to maintain a general wellbeing. Also, to support and assist the client to become more independent and confident.

 

Typical duties

Domestic -       

Work together with the client to establish a training routine so they become fully capable of tasks such as:

 

Support with achieving objectives

To be able to manage budgeting and dealing with written correspondence

Become independent with general household tasks

To plan and shop for weekly needs

Develop cooking skills to increase nutrition intake

To become proficient in using all kitchen appliances

 

Personal Care: 

Set up and encouragement to complete personal care routines

Assist to cope with unexpected changes in routine

Prompt to take medication as prescribed

Support to contact Mental Health services as necessary

Work towards establishing a structured day time and night time sleep pattern

 

Social:   

Support to cope with anxiety

To make and maintain friendships via social groups and internet sites

To maintain a good relationship with parents

To participate in leisure and social activities of choice.

To assist client to obtain voluntary or paid employment

Time management and support to attend appointments

To drive client in your own car as required in exchange for 35p per mile mileage.
