  • I suffer from severe fatigue and there will be times when you will be providing company  while I rest in bed.
  • The employer uses a motorised wheelchair and as such this role will not require any wheelchair pushing.

  • 5-9pm Tuesday evenings with remaining hours by agreement between Employer and Employee

Hours/Shifts

14 hours per week available
To be worked over 3 shifts.

One shift to include Tuesday evenings

The remaining hours pw by agreement with Employer but will be mainly day hours between Mon-Fri.

Description

Nature of the work:

To assist employer to safely access her local community to enable her to attend the activities she enjoys. To also assist with access to toilet facilities as required. There will be times when you may be asked to assist the employer at her home rather than going out.

This would also provide the Employers mother with some respite each week. 


Typical duties

Domestic  

  • Occasionally preparing drinks and snacks
  • Using/accessing the toilet 
  • Helping with buttons and fastenings
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') 
  • Mealtimes - assistance to eat if required
  • Providing company and support if my fatigue is severe and I need to rest in bed.


Social             

  • Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips
  • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities
  • Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
  • Occasional longer journeys
  • Accompanying on trips out e.g. Theatre, cinema, beach, gardens etc.
  • Accompanying on trips out e.g. to take photographs at the beach or in the woods or, visiting friends.
  • The above duties will involve driving the employer in her adapted car.
  • The employer uses a motorised wheelchair and as such this role will not require any wheelchair pushing.

  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a calm and common sense approach to this role.
