Hours/shifts:
• 1 hour Monday – Sunday evening from 8pm
• 1 hour every morning. This will be before 9am on weekdays and 10am on weekends but specific times are to be arranged. There is also the potential for one of these mornings to be extended to 3 hours.
• Monday and Thursday late afternoon/early evening to accompany me swimming
• Occasional ad-hoc hours available to support with social/sport in community.
Above shifts times are for guidance and can be flexible. Job share available please apply if you can do any of the above shifts

Summary
• I am looking for a personal care assistant(s) to support and assist me to live as independently as possible and reach my full potential.
• I am a wheelchair user and I have a few additional health issues (just to challenge me further!) I am a chatty person with a great sense of humour.
• I enjoy comedy and swimming and I have an adventurous side.
• I am a proactive person and I don’t allow my disability to define me.
• I am looking for someone who enjoys cooking as I need support with this but cooking duties are basic.
• Experience is preferable but this could be life experience rather than specifically in the care sector.
• I understand that due to the current circumstances the social activities will not be possible.

Other Requirements
UK driving licence would be an advantage

Typical duties


Domestic: This is a list of tasks you may be asked to do depending on the day.
Ironing and putting away.
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
Changing bed linen
Bed making
Taking out rubbish
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Shopping when I can’t do it
Tidying
Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork

Personal Care:
• Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
• To be on call when employer takes bath
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Rare assistance with toilet duties
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Prompting to take medication
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool.
• Physiotherapy exercises on occasion

Social:
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including swimming.
Rarely accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments.
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
Occasionally accompanying on trips out e.g. Comedy nights, ice skating, indoor sky diving
The above duties may involve driving on trips but this will be shared with the employer
