Please apply if you are interested in any of the hours below; job share available. The times are guidance only and there can be some flexibility.

• 1 hour morning, Monday to Sunday. This will be before 9am on weekdays and 11am on weekends (specific times to be arranged).
• One of the morning visits to be extended to 3 hours (either on Monday, Tuesday or weekend) to support with cooking.
• 1 hour Monday – Sunday evening from 8pm (specific time to be arranged)
• Occasional casual hours available to support with social/sport in community and addition support in the home.

Summary
• I am looking for a personal care assistant(s) to support and assist me to live as independently as possible and reach my full potential.
• I am a wheelchair user and I have a few additional health issues (just to challenge me further!) I am a chatty person with a great sense of humour.
• I enjoy comedy, photography, swimming and I have an adventurous side.
• I am a proactive person and I don’t allow my disability to define me.
• I am looking for someone who can have a chat and laugh as well as being able to focus on tasks.
• The casual hours to support with social/sport in community will involve supporting employer to feel more comfortable in the community following a prolonged period of shielding during the Covid pandemic and in time will include support to access swimming once or twice a week.
• Experience is preferable but this could be life experience rather than specifically in the care sector.

Other Requirements
UK driving licence would be an advantage

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

Domestic: This is a list of tasks you may be asked to do depending on the day.
Ironing and putting away.
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Changing bed linen
Taking out rubbish
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Occasional shopping
Tidying
Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork

Personal Care:
• Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required
• Assistance with applying cream
• General hair/skin care
• Rare assistance with toilet duties
• Empty/clean commode
• Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
• Prompting to take medication
• Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer to get changed at swimming pool.
• Physiotherapy exercises on occasion

Social:
Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including swimming.
Rarely accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments.
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.
Occasionally accompanying on trips out e.g. Comedy nights, ice skating, indoor sky diving
The above duties may involve driving on trips but this will be shared with the employer
