Job Title: Personal Support Assistant (Maternity Cover)

Hours/shifts: 12 hours per week, 3 hours per day. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, times can be flexible.

• I am a friendly, sociable lady who sees age as just a number. I love crafts and listening to music, particularly 80’s and 90’s and pop and enjoy a good dance or action film!
• I am hoping to find someone who I can have a chat and a laugh with and who will support me with basic care needs, housekeeping, cooking meals for me and 2 teenage children.
• I have Addison’s disease and a tumor on my shoulder which makes walking difficult.
• This is a rewarding role in a relaxed, family friendly environment.

Other Requirements 
• Must be comfortable with pets – small dog and 1 cat
• Must be happy to work in a smoking environment (by an open door/outside)
• Will be happy to cover holidays and sickness for my other PA.

Typical duties

Domestic -
Due to high risk of infection cleaning tasks need to be carried out meticulously:
Cleaning of door handles, light switches, hand rails etc
Mopping of floors
Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Helping with laundry, washing and drying
Loading and unloading the washing machine
Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line
Loading/unloading dishwasher
Washing up
Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning
Taking out rubbish
General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.
Keeping floors clear from obstructions
Minor household maintenance e.g. changing light bulbs, taking down curtains for washing
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.
Preparing and cooking home cooked meals

Personal Care: 
Due to being unable to bend down, reach up or turn, I require basic assistance with washing and dressing.

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
• Female due to personal care needs
• Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the work place (by an open door/outside)
• High standards of cleaning due to high risk of infection
• Respectful of mine and my children’s privacy and confidentiality
• Reliable with good time-keeping
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Honest, cheerful, positive and flexible
• Ability to cook homemade meals
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
