Job Title: Social & Domestic Support Assistant

Location: Arundel            

Hourly rate: £11 per hour       

Reference: MP6400             

Hours/shifts: 5 Hours per week. - Possibility this may slightly increase in the future. Friday – 10am-3pm. The above times may be flexible by agreement with employer.



  • Lady in her early 60’s looking to employ a Social & Domestic Support Assistant
  • Employer is severely visually impaired and lives in her own home
  • Able to read e mails via support equipment
  • Suffers from stress and anxiety
  • Osteoarthritis in hips but physically able bodied on short walks
  • No personal care required
  • Require assistance to choose matching outfits
  • Require assistance with preparing healthy meals and freezing portions
  • Require assistance with general household tasks such as laundry, changing bedclothes, cleaning and tidying.
  • Would like support to assist with accessing local community and attending activities
  • Assistance with correspondence, filing, reading etc
  • Assistance with online shopping plus support with occasional shopping trips
  • Support with basic PC tasks

Employer regularly attends her local church and has a great interest in music, singing and piano. She has won a number of awards for singing/piano.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a UK driving licence
  • Must have access to own vehicle

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Domestic -      

Helping with laundry, washing and drying

Changing bed linen

Bed making

Taking out rubbish

General housework, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming.

Preparing drinks, snacks and meals.


Assisting with online shopping

Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork


Plus any other related tasks as required


Personal Care:

Assist employer to choose matching outfits



Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required

Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities such as Spanish lessons & Lunch club

Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required

Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails.

Occasional longer journeys

Accompanying on general trips out

Driving and accompanying to social events such as Lunch Club and choir if required

The above duties will involve driving the employer in your own vehicle in return for mileage at 35p per mile.

Plus any other related tasks as required

The successful applicant will be:

  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
