Hours/shifts: 28.5 hours extra hours may be available term times, 33 hours school holidays.

Term Times

Mon-fri 7-10 am
Tues 4-7pm
Thurs and Friday 2.15-7pm

School holidays:

Tues, thurs Friday 8 am to 7pm

• We are looking for carers to come and join us and our family, this is a position in our own family home rather than a company setting.
• As a family we have 5 other carers already in Place and every shift is working with or alongside another team member, so team work is essential.
• Our lads are 17 and 18 years old. One young lad speaks verbally and can use up to 3 word sentences, he is a mischievous character and will keep you on your toes, the other is non-verbal and uses eye contact.
• Both lads are fully wheelchair dependent.
• Lifting and handling is involved in this position so this role requires that you are fit, strong and enthusiastic at all times and keen to learn the daily routine.
• The lads will require a lot of assistance during the day ,at mealtimes, all personal care, out and about ,collecting from school or at home .They are fully dependent on an adult and have very complex abilities.
• Please note that you will be working alongside a team of PAs to look after both lads together. Although there may be some lone working on a one to one basis with one of them.

The day will involve:
• Personal Care, getting the lads washed, dressed and fed, ready for their school pickup
• Escorting the lads to school in the taxi alongside another carer and returning back to the employers home
• Getting transport from employers home to the boys school and escorting them home
• Being there for my boys, getting them fed, washed and ready for bed
In house Training is available for the position, hoist training, medication, and first aid.
No experience needed, Non drivers are welcome.

Typical duties

Domestic -
Light housework
Preparing Food
Any other reasonable task

Personal Care:
Lifting young lads to and from wheelchairs / bed with use of a hoist
Assisting young lads to eat meals
Supporting young lads with bedtime routine
Supporting young lads with changing needs as they grow older
Any reasonable task

Playing with young lads
Accompanying the young lads to school and medical appointments
Any other reasonable task
