Job Title: Support Worker

Location:             Lancing

Hourly rate:         £9 plus travelling allowance.

Hours/shifts: 12 hours per week can be flexible with times, no weekends.




Gentleman requires support to attend  archery club, leisure activities and to get out of the house

Minimal personal care, support to monitor seizures-very rare.

Sense of humour a must

Must be a driver with own vehicle.

Other Requirements

  • Must have a UK driving licence
  • Must have access to own vehicle

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Domestic -       


Personal Care: 


Assistance with and reminding employer to take medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets

Support to get in/out of the wheelchair – just giving an arm to support

Prompting/reminding employer to eat and drink at mealtimes

Assistance with toileting may be required occasionally when out in the community



  • Accompanying and assisting employer to access the community and leisure activities
  • Encouraging and motivating employer to go out and participate in activities
  • Support to manage money and public transport
  • Support and promote independence as much as possible
  • The employer is unable to walk far or stand for long, or use escalators, so the above duties will involve driving the employer in your car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out and about.

The successful applicant will be:

  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
