Work in social care Working as a Personal Assistant Support Worker CZ1485 Job Title: Support Worker Location: Sparsholt near Winchester Hourly rate: £10.00 an hr Reference: CZ1485 Hours/shifts: term time 5 hrs on a Thurs or 2hrs Mon and 3hrs Thurs (flexible) Summary We are looking for a caring and patient Support Worker who can help my daughter to gain confidence and access her community. During the week she lives at a college near Winchester and is looking for help for 5 hours every Thursday in term time or split between Mon and Thurs, hours to be agreed but probably to cover the lunchtime period. The main role is to help her to do planning, shopping for and cooking a healthy meal My daughter is a funny, bright young lady but can feel anxious in new situations or meeting people She would like to go shopping into Winchester or for a swim; maybe socialising in the coffee shop, going for a walk or to the on site gym. Due to communication difficulties at times she may need support to approach college staff with any concerns (she's fine once she gets going!). As she is only at college in the term time the role is to support her whilst there but there is an option to also provide support in the holidays but this would be at her home in the New Forest. Other Requirements Must have a UK driving licence Must have access to own vehicle All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - Support with cooking healthy meals in college accommodation Personal Care: Social: To support and accompany to go shopping for food but also to help with social activities such as swimming, going for a coffee in town. Mileage will be paid Person specification The successful applicant will be: Be a driver with access to a vehicle Respectful and adhere to privacy and confidentiality Reliable with good time-keeping Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills Honest and cheerful Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
