Job Title: Support Worker

Location: Chichester            

Hourly rate: £9 an hour. 32 hours a week available.

Hours/shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday 09:00 – 15:30

Saturday 10:00 - 16:00

 

Summary

  • I am a 31 year old man with Cerebral Palsy and learning disabilities looking for support and to be accompanied when I visit a day center during the week
  • I have seizures at least once a day so I need constant support (training will be provided)
  • I’d also like support with social activities such as going to the shops or bowling
  • I’m also a big fan of music!

 

 

Other Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with dogs as I have a (friendly) Labrador
  • Must have a UK driving licence

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

 

Personal Care:
Catheter care

  • Using the toilet
  • Help with dispensing tablets on rare occasions
  • Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/packets
  • Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring')
  • Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat

Social:   

  • Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required
  • Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities, including a day centre during the week
  • Driving and accompanying to social events such as:
  • Cinema
  • Bowling
  • The above duties will involve driving the employer in their car

The successful applicant will be:

  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
