Hours of work are to be confirmed, but will likely be a combination of covering someday / (waking) night / weekend shifts. 



  • Friendly and caring carer needed
  • My elderly mum needs an experienced carer who is warm, kind and friendly with bundles of personality, ideally has empathic experience of helping support someone with latter stage Parkinsons and dementia.
  • She needs help with personal care; dressing, showering, bed bathing, toilet needs, feeding etc.
  • She has quite a few memory problems and this position would suit someone who has experience of dealing with older people with dementia.
  • My mum is a lovely lady who has a great sense of humour although sadly now has many challenges.
  • The carer must speak excellent English, be able to cook and be naturally friendly, kind, caring and patient.
  • Keeping her happy, stimulated and entertained is important to ensure she gets the most from her limited quality of life. This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided……
  • Mum has other fabulous carers at other times as she needs help 24/7. Her carers are wonderful as they provide great companionship for her and make her happy and smile - providing her with comfort and support.
  • We need someone with bundles of friendly, warm, caring personality who is going to naturally be ideal like this.

Other Requirements

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Day-time, the job would involve the following:


Cooking and preparing varied nutritious meals - and helping her to eat.

Assistance with medication, ensuring that it is taken regularly.

Managing medical appointments as required

Liaising with the other carers

Providing company and stimulation - reading, talking and maybe even a spot of dancing or singing in her chair.

Shopping with or without my mother if required

Household duties Cleaning, Cooking, Laundry/ ironing (as necessary).

Dressing, showering, bathroom needs etc

We try and get mum out and about every day, so taking her out where possible.

Flexible to help out if another carer is ill.

Common sense to be proactive in dealing with any issues that may occur.

Patience and support - often mum’s illness can make her confused and very agitated.


Night-time - please note the role is waking hours - ensuring mum gets sleep, but gets to the toilet etc as and when needed. And also getting her to bed / up washed and dressed in the morning depending on timings.

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
