Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Worthing
Hourly rate: £10.50, this may be increased depending on experience, overnights paid at a flat rate

Hours/shifts: Monday 2pm – 6pm, Friday 11am – 2pm and every other Monday overnight from 6pm – 10am, Job share available please apply if you can do any of the above shifts. Ability to cover holiday for overnights and weekends


• I am a sociable and chatty gentleman, looking for a support worker to help me remain independent in my own home.
• The role will involve domestic tasks, personal care and assisting me to get out and about and walk my dog.
Other Requirements
• Must be comfortable with pets – I have an Assistance dog who is very gentle and loving
• Must be happy to work in a smoking environment – door is always open to air

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties

Laundry, hanging out to dry, ironing, putting away
Taking out rubbish.
Preparing drinks, snacks and meals and clearing up afterwards.
Occasionally Writing emails/Letter on my behalf
Occasionally Accessing the internet
Any other reasonable task

Personal Care:
Minimal Catheter Care
Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required,
Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring'). This will be minimal
Mealtimes e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
Any other reasonable task

Watching TV and listening to music whilst on duty at the employer’s home
Assisting me to walk my Assistance dog
Any other reasonable task

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good timekeeping
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
