Job Title: Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant

Hours/shifts: 3 hours on Wednesday and Friday evenings (6.30pm-9.30pm but this can be flexible). 4/5 hours on Saturdays (12.00pm-4.00/5.00pm but again can be flexible).

Summary 

  • I am an outgoing, fun and active 26 year old man with Cerebral Palsy living with my family and dog in Goring.
  • I am currently looking for a PA to start in February 2021.
  • The successful applicant would be comfortable with supporting me with personal care tasks. These include: toileting, showering, getting dressed/undressed, and preparing my dinner.
  • The social aspect of this role includes: swimming, going to the cinema/pub, going to see friends, watching football and shopping
  • Tasks include supporting with social activities e.g. swimming, going to the cinema/pub, going to see friends, watching football, shopping.
  • I need support in the swimming pool so ability to swim essential.
  • Extra work on an ad hoc basis may be available too as well as some over nights.
  • Previous experience is not essential as full training is provided.
  • However, you must have a full driving licence and be willing/able to drive my car for me (please do not apply otherwise).
  • You should be friendly, trustworthy and reliable.

 Personal Care:  

  • Support with toileting
  • Assisting with showering
  • Supporting with getting dressed/undressed.

Social:

Support with swimming, going to the cinema and pub, going to see friends, watching football and shopping.

Person specification

The successful applicant will be: 

  • Have a full driving licence and be willing/able to drive employer’s car
  • Be comfortable to support me with Personal Care tasks
  • Be comfortable around dogs
  • Be able to swim and assist employer in swimming pool
  • Be friendly and cheerful
  • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good time-keeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and flexible
  • Be trustworthy and honest
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
