Job Title: Support Worker/Personal (Care) Assistant

5-7.30 pm, Monday and Wednesday

                     Times may change as and when needed.

                     The days can be flexible if these days are not suitable


• Support Worker required for 8 year old disabled boy to help him develop independence and participate in community activities.
• He has communication difficulties but can make simple choices and understand simple instructions.
• He can display challenging and aggressive behaviour when frustrated
• He has no safety or stranger danger awareness so must be supervised at all times
• He enjoys bowling, Park, Swimming and fishing. Duties will include taking him to activities and clubs in your own car.
• Support and supervision required with personal care e.g. using the toilet, washing hands, eating/drinking when out and about.
• You must have experience of working with disabled children and dealing with challenging behaviour.
• You should be reliable, very patient, flexible and understanding

Other Requirements

• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle
All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
Typical duties

Personal Care:
• Supervision with using the toilet, washing hands
• Supervision with eating/drinking e.g. cutting up food, assistance to eat
• Support to develop/learn personal care skills

• Driving the child to social and leisure activities in your own car
• Keeping him safe and supervised at all times
• Helping him manage his emotions
• Helping him participate in activities with other children
• Support to keep safe and active – can be prone to tripping over

 Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
Experienced in working with disabled children and dealing with challenging behaviour
Be firm, calm and patient
Have a full driving licence and own car
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality

Be able to swim
• Reliable with good time-keeping
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Honest and cheerful
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
