Job Title: Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant
Location:     Lancing/ Worthing       
Hourly rate:  £9 per hour

Hours/shifts: As and when needed - may include an hour before or after school and school holiday cover {9-3}.
Summary 
• I require a Support Worker for my big, tall & strong 12-year-old boy with Asperger's, ASD (Autism) and ADHD. 
• To assist him with social communication, engagement and activities and to help him develop independent life / living skills and confidence in himself and his surroundings.
• His interests include electronic games {Pokémon & Zelda}, cinema, bowling and trampolining
• Patience, firmness and ability to provide a structured routine is required {as well as being fun and willing to play/engage with him}.
• Additionally, to provide respite for me (his mum) as needed. 
• Duties include full support with all aspects of social communication & activities. Some personal care may be required {though rarely}.

Other Requirements 
 
• Must be a non-smoker 
• UK driving licence and access to own vehicle is desirable though not essential
Must have experience with additional needs.

Typical duties
Domestic -       
Some snack / meal preparation
Personal Care:  
Support him with continence management
Giving medication
Prompting to eat and drink regularly and appropriately
Supervising at all times and keeping him focused on tasks
Social:     
Assist mum to take the child out or provide her with respite.
Assistance to attend clubs, activities and school drop off / pickup
Keeping safe/supervising at all times when out as he has no concept of time or common danger awareness
Playing with him in his own home or during activities
Keeping the child focused on tasks/activities
Helping him develop social and independent living skills and gain confidence in new experiences

The successful applicant will be:    
Have the experience of working with children with Asperger's, ASD and ADHD
Able to provide a structured routine
Have the ability to de-escalate situations verbally
Non-smoker essential
Be cheerful and positive
Be very reliable with good timekeeping
Be flexible
Be patient but assertive, firm and self-motivated
Fit and healthy enough to undertake the required duties
Legally permitted to work in the UK
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to work at all times to high standards of health and safety
Be respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
Able to follow instructions and work on own initiative
Be honest and trustworthy
