• Looking for a new and exciting Support Worker/PA role?
• We are recruiting for keen and reliable people to provide care to our 18 year old son with muscular dystrophy.
• He is very sociable and loves to go out with his friends or on his own but also likes spending time at home with his family
• The role would include helping with his personal care, feeding via gastrostomy, administering meds and hoist transfers as he uses a wheelchair,
• He also requires Bi-pap and cough assist but full training will be given for this as well as feeding.
• We are offering up to 20 hrs a week, the dates and times to be discussed when he knows what his timetable for college will be but hours can be flexible or fixed as desired.
• Generally the hours will be in the day but you may be asked to provide some evening support at times.
• Driver desirable but not essential to drive employers wheelchair vehicle.

Other Requirements 

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check
Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
The role is to support an 18 year old man with Muscular Dystrophy with his daily living tasks aswell as enabling him to lead a fun and fulfilling life participating in activities typical of an 18 year old.
Typical duties
Tidying and cleaning bath area
Making bed

Personal Care: 
• Support with toileting
• To apply skin care as needed
• Main personal care is carried out by night carers ie showering/ dressing but it may be necessary occasionally to support with this
• Medication – Ventolin/ bolus feeds
• Administering Bipap
• Supporting with Cough Assist

• To support to attend social activities with friends ie bbq’s,
• To support to develop own interests
• To support to go to cinema, football matches. It maybe necessary to attend away matches at times.
• To support with activities at home ie Xbox

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
