Hours/Shifts

2 roles available

Daytimes Monday – Friday 16.5 hours a week

Also Wednesdays one a month work all day 9am – 5.30 (additional 6.5 hours a month)

Evenings and Weekends- 16 hours

Additional hours may be available for supporting on days and evenings out.

Nature of the work:

I am a fun young disabled person. I live with my partner in a little flat and receive support from various staff for different things.

I have a physical disability which affects my movements, I need assistance to move in and out of bed, transfer safely into/out of my wheelchairs and in and out of bed.

We are looking for a personal assistant who will support me with general things such as personal care, getting dressed, with showers, preparing meals and getting ready for bed.  I also would like someone to enable me to go shopping and to visit places. I like to be well-presented and enjoy make-up and designing new tattoos.

Typical duties

  • To provide personal care including getting dressed/undressed, to shower and safely transfer to wheelchair/bed.
  • To carry out enabling duties, supporting with patience and empathy through anxiety and emotional needs
  • To prepare meals and drinks and prepare food in a safe and hygienic manner, including washing and tidying away before and after meals. 
  • To undertake light housework, washing bedding and clothes, ensuring equipment is kept clean and hygienic, and that the shower area is mopped and tidied after use. 
  • To assist the employer with maintaining the home environment, arranging repairs and dealing with bills, banking and other paperwork
  • To support in arranging and accessing appointments.
  • To assist with food shopping, clothes shopping and accessing community facilities
  • To assist when at social occasions and going out with friends.
  • To ensure all relevant policies, procedures and instructions are followed
  • To cover for other staff members for leave and sickness
