Hours/shifts: Approx. 2.5 hours per week, days/times are flexible to be arranged. Extra hours available during school holidays.

Summary


• Female support worker required to assist a 12 year old girl with Autism to attend social and leisure activities.
• She lives with her family in Goring, Worthing
• She requires help with toileting/personal care.
• You must have experience of working with children with Autism
• You should be friendly, reliable, flexible and patient.
• This is a great opportunity to support a young girl to become independent and confident.


Other Requirements
• "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9."
• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Typical duties
Personal Care:
• Reminding to use the toilet, assistance with changing pads.
Social: (please add in/delete as applicable)
• Accompanying and assisting the child to attend activities e.g. swimming, football matches, trampolining, play schemes, gymnastics.
• Driving her in your own car.
• Helping her build up her confidence and independence in social situations and develop friendships with other children.
• Helping her to understand her feelings and manage anxieties.
• Helping her to make good choices and decisions when out in the community.
• Keeping her supervised and safe at all times e.g. reminding her to be careful when crossing roads.

Person specification
The successful applicant will be:
• Female due to personal care needs
• Have experience of working with autistic children
• Able to reassure and motivate
• Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
• Reliable with good time-keeping
• Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
• Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
• Patient and calm
• Friendly and cheerful
• Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
• Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
• Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
