Hours/shifts: 4 hours on alternate Saturdays. Times to be arranged. Extra hours may be available during school holidays.

Summary

• Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant required to assist a 9 year old boy with learning disabilities.
• He lives with his family in Worthing.
• Duties include assisting him to participate in social and leisure activities safely outside of the home e.g. playing football in the park, going to ball pits, bowling, cinema.
• To supervise and keep him safe at all times e.g. hold his hand when crossing roads as he has no danger awareness.
• To assist him to become more independent and develop life skills such as road safety.
• Encouraging him to drink liquids regularly.
• Encouraging/reminding him to use the toilet regularly.
• Reminding him to wash his hands when necessary.
• To assist him with communication and developing positive friendships.
• Calm him down and reassure him if he becomes agitated, he can become aggressive if provoked by other children.
• To support the development of his confidence and self-esteem.

Other Requirements

• Must have a UK driving licence
• Must have access to own vehicle

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.

Monitoring and supervising at all times to keep him safe

Assist mum to find appropriate activities.


The successful applicant will be:
Have some experience of working with learning disabilities
Own car and driving licence essential
Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good time-keeping, honest.
Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
Patient
Have the ability to calm and reassure the child and deal with difficult situations
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
