  • Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant required for 7 year old boy with Autism and sensory processing disorder as well as possible pathological demand avoidance.
  • Duties include enabling him to enjoy and participate in various hobbies, increase his self-esteem and learn life skills and gain independence in the community.
  • To provide respite for his mother so she can spend quality time with her other children.
  • He must be supervised at all times as he has no sense of danger.
  • He can be aggressive at times.
  • He loves sticker books, swimming, trampolining and animals.


Other Requirements

  • Must have a UK driving licence
  • Must have access to own vehicle
  • Must be comfortable with dogs      

All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check

Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.


Typical duties

Personal Care: 

Encourage him with toileting outside of the home. 


  • Driving the child to activities using your own car.
  • To take him to the park, trampolining, swimming, beach etc.
  • Help him learn and develop life skills e.g. handling money, socialising, being confident when out and about.
  • Supervise and keep him safe at all times due to lack of danger awareness.

Person specification

The successful applicant will: 

 Have experience of working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour

  • Have full driving licence and own car
  • Be extremely patient and tolerant
  • Be very reliable
  • Able to explain things in a simple and consistent way
  • Have a friendly and caring nature
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Must be comfortable around dogs
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom
  • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety
  • If a smoker then refrain from smoking when working with the child
