Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant DP6158 Location: Worthing / Hourly rate: £9.50 / Reference: DP6158 Summary Experienced Support Worker required for 66 year old lady with an acquired brain injury living in Worthing. Her energy levels vary, speech is affected and she has poor vision. She sometimes experiences seizures. She is a happy person with a good sense of humour. Duties include assisting her to attend social and leisure activities including swimming, bowling, horse riding and disabled sports. Various venues including Bognor. Some domestic tasks required and prompting/reminding with personal care. Own car and full driving licence required Experience of working with people with acquired brain injuries would be helpful. You must be a non smoker, patient and cheerful. Reliability is very important as she can become upset if unable to attend her chosen activities regularly. You will report to the client’s daughter who is the employer. Outgoing personality a must. Hours/Shifts 1.00-5.00pm Sundays 10.00am-2.00pm Wednesday and Fridays (these 2 days could be flexible) Other Requirements Must have a UK driving licence Must have access to own vehicle All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Typical duties Domestic - Laundry Light shopping Preparing drinks, snacks and meals Washing up and clearing away Personal Care: Prompting the client to wear appropriate clothing for the weather and social activity they are doing that day Ensuring the client has taken her medication Checking the client has eaten any prepared food Social: Accompanying and assisting the employer on trips to include swimming, bowling, disabled sports at Bognor Arena, horse riding and day trips Accompany to appointments when needed e.g. hospital, dentist, doctors Finding out about social opportunities locally for the client Driving the client in your own car Person specification The successful applicant will be: Have own car and full driving licence Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality Very reliable with good time-keeping Patient and willing to take time with the client Have some experience of care work. Experience of working with someone with an acquired brain injury helpful.
