Independent Lives is currently looking to recruit new Trustees to our board, people who would like to make a difference in the community we serve and have a genuine interest in the work we do.

We are a user-led charity, working with people with support needs and with carers, to enable people to lead full, active and independent lives. Their vision is a fairer society where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Working together we achieve real change in the lives of the people we support - so that we can all participate in our communities and have greater choice, control and freedom.

In order for us to realise our vision and mission, we need highly effective and committed Trustees to provide support to ensure that we achieve our aims. We are particularly looking for people with experience in the following:

  • HR
  • Legal
  • Fundraising
  • Marketing and communications

For the position, we are seeking outstanding people with board level experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the willingness to commit an average of two to three days per month to the position (variable subject to need).

Board meetings are held quarterly, and are held on Thursdays starting 10:30 (although this time is being reviewed). We also hold an annual general meeting. We would like Board Members to be involved; to be visible and engage with our members and the public.

We offer full induction training for those selected for this position. This role is not remunerated but we will pay travel and related expenses.
