Independent Lives is looking to grow our Board and are now recruiting people with experience and passion in the following sectors: legal, social care, media/marketing, finance and HR.

We also always want to hear from people with lived experience, so if you have support needs or are a carer do get in touch.

This is your opportunity to work alongside a vibrant and diverse group of Trustees and be an integral part of the team.

If you would like to make a real difference to a local charity supporting local disabled people to live independently, then we would love to hear from you!

Current roles

Independent Lives is currently looking to recruit a new Treasurer to our board of trustees, to be responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and development of the organisation on strategic financial planning and oversight.

We are a user-led charity, working with people with support needs and with carers, to enable people to lead full, active and independent lives. Their vision is a fairer society where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Working together we achieve real change in the lives of the people we support - so that we can all participate in our communities and have greater choice, control and freedom.

In order for us to realise our vision and mission, we need a highly effective and committed Treasurer to provide support to ensure that they achieve their aims, in particular by giving financial direction, guiding overarching financial policy, defining goals and measuring performance.

For the position, we are seeking outstanding people with board level experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience of working in a senior financial position with review of financial strategy. The time commitment is on average two to three days per month, variable subject to need.

Board meetings are held quarterly, and are held on Thursdays starting 10:30 (although this time is being reviewed). We also hold an annual general meeting. We would like Board Members to be involved; to be visible and engage with our members and the public.
